The first camera was a complicated but innovative piece of equipment. Exposure took nearly eight hours, and after that process had finished, the results weren’t even permanent. Many photographs tended to fade away over time, an effect we may use in Photoshop today, but certainly not desirable when you want a picture to last a lifetime.
