You’ve gone and done it - you’ve taken your prized prints and got them digitized!

Facebook has had everyone in a craze since 2005 and the fad doesn’t seem to be dying down. Even if you don’t have Facebook you probably know at least 5 or 10 people that do. As of December 2012, it is reported that Facebook has about 1 billion users, 167 million unique visitors per month, and 500 millions "likes" per day. Not too bad for a Harvard, computer programming, drop out, right?

Regardless of whether you digitize your photos with a photo scanning service or not, you'll still have the original photographs. So what do you do with them? How can you share and display them in creative and unique ways?

It is probably safe to say you have home movies tucked away in storage from your childhood or your parent’s childhood. The voice of your grandmother, the laughter of your daughter on her first birthday, your son’s clarinet solo from grade school - these are all memories we can imagine you have a version of captured.

Color and black and white prints can be found in many different places - wallets, walls, and desktops. Even though most of us are found carrying a cellphone, many people still have photos in their wallets before they convert photos to digital.

Buzz feed reported that there have been 3.8 trillion photos ever taken (EVER!). You would need 145 billion iPhones to store 3.8 trillion photos. This probably also means the amount of pictures you’ve taken while someone is blinking is more than some people have taken in their whole life. (Some photo scanning services have certainly been busy!)

So if you’ve got prints and negatives chances are you’ve also got a box of video tapes lying around your house. Are they piling up? Taking up space in your house you could be using for other things? Or are you bored at home looking for a new project to get your hands on? There are a multitude of reasons why you should convert VHS tapes to DVD.

Your memories can be displayed in many different forms. These include slides, negatives, film, and video. Most of the time these are not easily accessible when you’re looking to take a trip down memory lane. It’s hard to imagine a world without an iPhone or digital camera yet these analog formats are what were used before anyone had access to these new technologies. Before you think about converting video tapes to DVD, you should probably learn a little more about what you have in your archives.

It is said a picture is worth a thousand words - and now thanks to new age technology, there are many digital ways to share your pictures making it even more worthwhile to digitize photos.

We all make mistakes and the only way to learn is by taking advice from each other. When converting VHS to DVD or movie film to DVD, it is common to have pre-conceived notions that may not necessarily be fact. It is human nature to make assumptions - you are definitely not the only one who does it (we are guilty too)!
